IRON RIVER – The West Iron County School District and the student who was not allowed to participate in a track meet because of a pink Mohawk have reached a resolution.
The school district says Mike Barker will continue to be a member of the track team. They regretted that Barker was not allowed to participate because of the interpretation of the current athletic policy.
A committee will be created to review the policy and make recommendations to the school board. Barker will be a member of that committee.
Barker says he dyed his hair pink in honor of his mother who had breast cancer. She has been cancer free for several years.
