ESCANABA — Veterans were invited for a picnic at Friday’s Escanaba High School football game. Rusty Bluse said they have brats and hamburgers for veterans and their spouses before the game.
They were then recognized on the field and greeted by the football players.
“They politely take their helmets off and walk down the line of veterans and shake their hands. We also invite the opposing team to do that. It’s really a show of great sportsmanship,” Bluse said.
The free picnic was held at 5 p.m. The ball game started at 7. The picnic was held at the north entrance to the grandstands.
