Vendors are starting to set up today to get ready for the Upper Peninsula State Fair in Escanaba. Nearly 200 vendors will be at this year’s fair.

Lorraine Zawacki of Bark River was setting out purses and other items at the Lady Z’s booth in the Ruth Butler Building Sunday afternoon. She says she sells anything that sparkles.

“I’m known for the bling, jewelry, belts, hats whatever it takes to put the bling on,” she said.

The U.P. State Fair is a longtime tradition for Zawacki and her family. They have been showing animals at the fair for more than 35 years. As she prepares her booth, her grandchildren a setting up across the fairgrounds with their animals.

“It’s good for the kids, it’s good for the community, good for businesses. It brings everybody together,” said Zawacki.
