ESCANABA – Escanaba Public Safety says the three suspects arrested in Marquette County for armed robbery are allegedly the same same ones who robbed the Quality Inn and Suites in Escanaba Monday.
Detective Lt. Darin Hunter says they linked the suspects to the Escanaba robbery by conducting interviews, recovering evidence and obtaining security video cameras from various locations.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s office identifies the three as Tristen Snow, 17, Jacob Jones, 18 and Jordon Steinhausen, 22. All three are from the Escanaba area.
They have been arraigned in Marquette County District Court on one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery and four counts of armed robbery. Bond has been set for each suspect at $1 million, $200,000 for each count.
Hunter says Escanaba Public Safety is in the process of completing its investigation so formal charges can be sought through the Delta County Prosecutor’s office.
Escanaba Public Safety says two masked men entered the Quality Inn and Suites in Escanaba, approached the front desk and demanded money from the front desk clerk. The two then fled the scene. A weapon was implied but not seen by the front desk clerk. An undisclosed amount was stolen from the register.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s office says two men in black clothes and wearing masks entered the America’s Best Value Inn in Chocolay Township at 6:15 Tuesday morning and demanded money at knife point. The clerk refused and pulled a pistol on the two. He was a licensed concealed pistol permit holder.
The two fled in a waiting vehicle.
The Sheriff’s office says they then received a call that two customers were robbed at Kassel’s Korner on U.S. 41 in Marquette by two men with a knife and baseball bat.
Deputies pulled a vehicle over on U.S. 41 a short time later near Heidtman Road. They were arrested without incident and lodged at the Marquette County Jail.
Escanaba Public Safety and the Marquette County Sheriff’s office were assisted by the Marquette City Police, Michigan State Police and Chocolay Township Police Department.
