RAPID RIVER – A Rapid River man became concerned when he began to see deterioration at the front of what he believed was a French mortar round from World War I. He contacted the Michigan State Police Post. Detective Sgt. Jeremy Hauswirth said he was surprised at what he saw.

Post commander recalls fighting whiteout conditions at accident scene on U.S. 2
GLADSTONE – Extreme whiteout conditions made responding to a 16 vehicle pileup on U.S. 2 last Friday near Garden Corners a challenge for first responders who were working to help those injured and clear damaged vehicles from highway. First Lt. Greg Cunningham with the Michigan State Police Post in Gladstone said the situation was dangerous because blowing snow made it difficult to see anything more than a few feet away.
