MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP – A group of 7th and 8th graders walking on a trail Wednesday in Marquette County walked into a smoldering pile of debris that turned out to be components of a methamphetamine lab. The students and their teacher from the North Star Academy were walking on a trail west of the Target store in Marquette Township.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department contacted the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) when it was determined that the debris was a meth lab. There are no suspects.
