Listen to the interview with Jesse Taub, Jesse VanZile and Christine Madalinski
ESCANABA — Players de Noc is opening with a double feature Friday, October 12, with two plays collectively called “An Evening of One Acts.”
In the play, “I don’t Mind That You’re Ugly” Jesse Taub plays the ugly boyfriend.
“Most people act like he’s very hideous. I guess he’s just average to not good looking. But he has this girlfriend who he loves very much, who is incredibly beautiful and she loves him very much as well. Also, no one can see why they are together so that causes a lot of tension in the play while they are this restaurant,” explained Taub.
This is Taub’s first time on stage at the Bonifas.
It is also Jessie VanZile first time in a Players de Noc production. She stars in the other play called “Love, Loss and What I Wore” that includes several stories from different women.
“I’m sharing a story about a young girl, sharing a memory of when she was a little girl and she lost this dress that was very important to her and what she went through with that dress,” VanZile said.
Christine Madalinski stars in both plays. In the first play, she portrays a “salty” waitress at the restaurant.
“I’m just a little apprehensive about waiting on them. He terrifies me from the moment I see him because he is so awkward looking and no sense of fashion,” she said.
The plays open Friday and run Saturday, Sunday afternoon and again next Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Tickets are available at the Bonifas Arts Center or online at playersdenoc.org.
