ESCANABA – Pathways Community Mental Health has agreed to pay Delta County $200,000 for an underpayment of rent at the county building on College Avenue in Escanaba.
The agreement was approved by the Delta County Commission Tuesday. Commissioner David Rivard voted against the settlement.
Delta County Clerk Nancy Kolich said an error resulted in an underpayment of about $400,000 over ten years.
“There was, somehow, an oversight in what they were paying for rent,” she said. “Apparently, there was some type of verbal agreement and because we had changed administrators, I think twice, since the verbal agreement came about Pathways should have been paying more for rent than they actually were.”
The error was discovered about a year ago when the contract was reviewed before renewal. Pathways has since moved to the former Doctors Park facility in Escanaba.
