ESCANABA – A business in Escanaba is holding a grand opening Saturday at its new store at the Lofts on Ludington. Owner Krista Starz says she plans to keep Click Cabinets as an online business but also wants to offer a physical presence in the community.

“When I started this company I was thinking I would strictly keep it as an online business but, quite frankly, I wanted to be involved in the community again and have a face in the community and not sit at home until 3 o’clock in the afternoon in my pajamas working on my computer,” Starz said.

Although a native of Gladstone, Starz started her business clickcabinets.com in Virginia in 2008, just outside of Washington D.C. She came back to the U.P. earlier this year and opened her doors in September.

Being an online business, Starz said her online customers won’t notice if her business is in Virginia or Escanaba.

“Primarily, my clientele is in Florida, California and Colorado. There is no difference for my customers or myself from working in D.C. to here,” Starz said.

Her new business is located at the Lofts of Ludington in downtown Escanaba.

Although customers will be able to see and feel the products that she will be selling from her downtown business, Starz says there will be an Ipad at the store for people to check out her full line of products.

If the brick and mortar store works out, Starz says she hopes to open more stores in other areas, primarily where the designers live that she works with.
