MARQUETTE — The Marquette County Sheriff’s office is asking for anyone who witnessed an accident in Marquette County Tuesday that killed a 63 year-old K.I. Sawyer woman to contact them.
Killed was Laurel Jean Eagle. She was transported to U.P. Health System Marquette where she was pronounced dead. She had to be extracted from the vehicle by the Marquette Township Fire Department before being transported to the hospital.
The crash occurred on U.S. 41 at County Road HQ near Walmart in Marquette Township just before 12:30 p.m.
The Sheriff’s office said a 2007 Chevrolet Impala driven by 65-year-old John Anthony Eagle of K.I. Sawyer was attempting to make a left turn into the Walmart parking lot from the westbound lane when it was struck by a 2015 full size Chevrolet pickup truck traveling east. The Laurel Eagle was a passenger in the car making the turn.
John Eagle was transported to U.P. Health System Marquette. The driver of the pickup truck, 42-year-old Daniel John Rivord of Ishpeming sought his own treatment for injuries at U.P. Health Systems Marquette.
