ESCANABA – It was a good night for incumbents in the Escanaba and Gladstone city elections.
All three incumbents won re-election to the Escanaba City Council. Leo Evans placed first with 1,083 votes, Marc Tall second with 933 votes and Pat Baribeau third with 749 votes.
Tall replaces Pete Baker on a four year term. Baker did not run for re-election. Tall’s remaining two years on his position is being filled by Ralph Blasier who was unopposed.
Jay Bostwick placed first in the Gladstone City Commission race. He won with 536 votes. Incumbents Hugo Mattonen and Joe Maki also won re-election to the city commission. Mattonen had 387 votes and Maki 369 votes.
Maki took Gladstone mayoral advisory vote with 281 votes. Hugo Mattonen placed second and Matthew Gay third. Mayor Darin Hunter did not run for re-election.
Dave Nemacheck easily won the remaining two years of David Olson’s seat. Nemacheck placed first with 465 votes.
Delta County Clerk Nancy Kolich says 16 percent of register voters in Delta County voted in Tuesday’s election. It included a county-wide millage proposal for Bay College. Bay was requesting 1 mill for 20 years for capital expenses. The millage was renewed with 2,770 yes votes to 1,065 no.
