TAMPA BAY – Former Escanaba and Northern Michigan University football player Jace Daniels was cut Saturday from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but resigned to the practice squad Sunday.
The offensive lineman is a rookie who signed as an undrafted free agent with the Buccaneers. The 6-4, 300-pound Daniels saw action in all four preseason games for Tampa Bay in August.
He is one of eight players to make the practice squad. Last year, four players were promoted to Tampa Bay’s 53-man roster after spending some time on the practice squad.
Daniels graduated from Escanaba Area High School in 2009 where he was an All-Upper Peninsula and All-Great Northern Conference honoree in football. He was a four-year letter-winner at Northern Michigan, starting all 42 games in which he played and earning first-team all-conference honors as a senior.
