ESCANABA – The Esky 150 Committee officially dissolved Thursday. The committee was organized 3 1/2 years ago for Escanaba’s sesquicentennial celebration in July.
They raised about $250,000 for the 10-day event. Yesterday, they transferred the remaining $10,000 to the Community Foundation of Delta County to be used for future events in Escanaba.
“The money should be used to continue our mission to celebrate Escanaba,” said Pat Baribeau, committee chair.
The committee was also responsible for planting more than 250 trees in Escanaba. The group raised $65,000 dollars for the tree planting project.
“It was a lot of fun working on this project,” said Marilyn Kinsey, who headed the tree planting project.
The remaining trees will be planted in the spring.
