ESCANABA – Some of the road work in the Escanaba area will be suspended during the Upper Peninsula State Fair next week. The Michigan Department of Transportation says the work stoppage was planned due to the expected high volume of traffic in and around the fairgrounds.
To ease congestion and increase safety, MDOT is suspending the nighttime paving of U.S. 2 from North 30th Street to Danforth Road, resurfacing M-35 from the Menominee County line to the Delta County Airport and updating of the traffic signals and sidewalk ramps in the city of Escanaba.
The fair runs from Monday through Aug. 19. Road work is expected to begin again on Aug. 20.
