ESCANABA — A two point conversion to take the lead and a failed field goal attempt gave the Escanaba Eskymos their first win of the season in an exciting home opener game against Petoskey Friday night.
Escanaba was down 14-0 at halftime but scored in the third to keep their hopes alive. With less than two minutes in the game, Escanaba ran more than half the field for their second touchdown. Instead of going for the tie, the Eskymos went for two and quarterback Craig Kamin kept the ball for the score.
Esky led 15-14.
Petoskey, however, was not done. A long pass put the team on Escanaba’s 19 yard line. With 4 seconds to go, the Northmen attempted a field goal for the win. A bad snap gave the Eskymos the game.
Escanaba is 1-1 in its season.
