MARQUETTE — Despite four turnovers and Marquette near the goal late in the game, Escanaba’s defense held strong to support an Eskymos 20-3 win, their fourth straight win this season.
It was not an easy win. The only score going into the fourth was 6 from a Justin Popelka 61-yard run in the second quarter. The extra point try went wide.
Marquette threatened in the fourth but settled for a field goal when a penalty sent them backwards. Popelka then connected with Christopher LeMire on a 71 yard Eskymos touchdown. Cody Vandermisse secured the win with a 5 yard run.
