ESCANABA – Danforth Road in Escanaba will be closed next week to repair the railroad crossing at the bottom of the hill. Escanaba City Engineer Bill Farrell says the road will be closed from North 30th Street in Escanaba to Five Corners in Danforth.
It’s a joint project with the city, the Delta County Road Commission and Canadian National Railroad.
The road will be closed beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16. It is expected to reopen on Friday, Sept. 20. While the road is closed it will be pulverized, regraded and paved to improve the ride across the tracks.
A detour route will be set up from Danforth Road along M-35 to County Road 426. Local traffic will be able to access businesses and residences on either side of the tracks. Use alternate routes or the signed detour route and allow extra time when traveling in the area.
