ESCANABA — Fire killed two people yesterday and injured three at the Delta Inn Motel in Escanaba. A resident on the first floor said he heard an explosion as fire broke out on the second floor of the building. Escanaba Public Safety says residents climbed up onto the roof and escaped over to the adjacent Hiawatha Motel.

Escanaba closure expected to be longer during water main break
With the amount of ice that was on North Lincoln Road Thursday from the water main break in Escanaba, Public Safety Director Rob LaMarche said they did not expect the road to be open for a couple of days.

ESCANABA — A cheering crowd greeted the 84 veterans on the Upper Peninsula Honor Flight as they got off the plane Tuesday night at the Delta County Airport. John Ornatowski of Rapid River was in the U,S, Army in the 32nd Airborne from 1957 to 60.

DATA looking for millage approval in four Delta County townships
ESCANABA — Four townships in Delta County will be voting on a millage to fund public bus service in the August 7 election. The half mill request for five years in Escanaba Township is a renewal. Bark River, Cornell and Bay de Noc Townships are being asked if they want bus service with the same request.
