ESCANABA — AARP Michigan is hosting an event for caregivers Thursday, Aug. 25, at the Escanaba Senior Center.
The live webinar from 6-8 p.m. is titled “Unstuck! Lightening the Heart of the Family Caregiver” and features author and AARP Tennessee volunteer Peter Rosenberger.
AARP Sally Bruce, Escanaba, said the event “will help you lighten your heart, rediscover your identity and find a safe, emotional path through caregiving, all shared with a healthy dose of outrageous humor and candor.”
AARP will provide free refreshments and those attending could win a copy of Rosenberger’s new book “Hope for the Caregiver: Encouraging Words to Strengthen Your Spirit.”
Rosenberger started developing his message of health and hope in 2013 after his wife, Gracie, first experienced major medical issues. Since then Gracie has undergone 78 operations, had both her legs amputated, has been treated by more than 60 doctors in 12 hospitals, dealt with seven medical insurance companies, and has had $9 million in medical bills.
Seating is limited, and those planning to attend should register by calling 1-877-926-8300.
