RAMSAY – A 23-year-old Ramsay man led State Troopers on a high speed chase on a 4-wheeler Sunday after failing to stop for officers.
The Michigan State Police say the Troopers observed the 4-wheeler traveling down the middle of U.S. 2 near the Ramsay Crossing. The man on the 4-wheeler did a U-turn on the highway and fled on Trail 2 before crashing into the southeast corner of the Bessemer Small Engine building. The man then fled on foot from Troopers and Sheriff’s Deputies. He crossed U.S. 2 and ran through neighborhood yards before being apprehended.
Police say the man was injured when he ran into a metal clothesline pole while fleeing. He was treated at Aspirus Grand View Hospital and released.
He was charged with fleeing and eluding, operating while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license. He is lodged at the Gogebic County Jail. Bond was set at $15,000.
