A live WWI mortar round discovered at a Rapid River home
RAPID RIVER – A Rapid River man became concerned when he began to see deterioration at the front of what he believed was a French mortar round from World War I. He contacted the Michigan State Police Post. Detective Sgt. Jeremy Hauswirth said he was surprised at what he saw.

Lasco employees donate to Toys for Tots
MARQUETTE — Lasco and its employees recently donated $420 to the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. Every Friday, Lasco employees are given the opportunity to donate $1 to wear jeans to work. At the end of each quarter, Lasco matches the employee funds and a charity is chosen to become the recipient.
