MDOT approves ORV connector routes in 12 Upper Peninsula locations
MARQUETTE – The first connector routes proposed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to allow off-road vehicles (ORVs) to travel in the rights of way, including some shoulders of state highways, have been approved by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT).

Body found by hunters in Menominee County has been identified
MENOMINEE – The body found in Menominee County during the opening day of the firearm deer season has been identified. The Menominee County Sheriff’s Department says the remains are of 44-year-old Gerod F. Prince of Milwaukee. He was reported missing in September.

Christensen appointed to Library of Michigan board of trustees
MARQUETTE – Gov. Rick Snyder announced the appointment of Pamela Christensen of Marquette to the Library of Michigan board of trustees. It was one of three appointments made to the board. The 13-member board makes general policy and budgetary recommendations concerning the Library of Michigan to the Michigan Department of Education.

Ruptured gas line causes evacuations in Escanaba
ESCANABA – Homes in Escanaba were evacuated this afternoon in a one block area surrounding a major natural gas leak at 14th Avenue North and North 22nd Street. A construction crew hit the main line in that area. Escanaba Public Safety Lt. Darin Hunter said they went door-to-door after 1 p.m. to evacuate the area.

ESCANABA – Escanaba is looking for this year’s Prince and Princess to preside over the Escanaba Christmas Parade. They will be the official greeters of Santa during the parade on Dec. 6. Following the parade, the Prince and Princess and their families will join Santa for a personal visit.
